We’re still lazing our days away on the Kona side of the Big Island. We’ve been snorkeling every day. Mornings are best at Kahaluu and we found an area where there’s a lot of live coral and plenty of fish.
Josie and I saw an octopus for about 10 seconds. It disappeared when we lifted our heads to tell the others. We’ve seen lots of eels and turtles and many, many fish.
We also found a cleaner station where some cleaner wrasse clean the bigger fish who stop by.
We went to a small farmer’s market and got some local fruit, including lychees (delicious) and passion fruit (very tasty). Also did some souvenir shopping at the local Longs, great prices and I got a nice hawaiian shirt and a coffee mug.
We had brunch at the Outrigger, which was delicious. Lots of local food: kahalua pork, lau lau, sushi, sashimi, and poi (which we passed on this time). We all ate too much.
You can see more photos in my Fish & Turtles and Luau photo set.
