Made a trip down to Sea World a week ago, while Ted’s dad was visiting. We hadn’t been in awhile (long enough that our cards expired, unfortunately) and we had a good time.
We did the behind the scenes tour and saw some dolphins, a harbor seal, a young elephant seal and some sharks. Also got priority seating at the Shamu show, which was good because the park was packed. The new show was pretty good, but had a bit to much acting, too little natural behaviors for me, though I suppose that’s what the sea lion and dolphin shows are like.
We also saw the Pets Rule show, which I love. Something about watching cats run around on stage and do tricks makes me happy. And we got to pet a sturgeon, very cool. It was coming up to be fed in the ray pool. We’d seen it before, but it had never come up for food. It’s a long, bony fish, probably about 4 feet in length. And it poofs out it’s mouth and sounds like a vacuum cleaner when it wants some fish (or thinks your fingers are fish). Startling and funny.
To top it all off, we got to watch the cuttlefish (some of my favorites along with the octopus) scuffle and change colors. Unfortunately we didn’t get pictures of that.
More photos in our Sea World Album.
