We’re on the Big Island of Hawaii to celebrate my and Ted’s 40th birthdays this year. We’re staying at the Kona Seaspray, just down the road (a 5 minute or so walk) from Kahaluu Beach which has some ono (excellent) snorkeling.
So far, we’ve been snorkeling every day and have been swimming with the turtles who come up on Kahaluu to feast on the algae. Very cool. Also have lots of day geckos at the hotel, to keep Josie busy. That’s one in the photo.
We went to a luau at the King Kamehameha Hotel. The show was great, with dances from all the Polynesian Islands and the food was good.
It’s been warm and humid, but does cool off pretty well at night.
We’re on the Kona side of the island for the first week. Plans are more snorkeling, including Two Step by the Place of Refuge, and a coffee tasting tour.
Then we’ll head over to the Hilo side where we’ll snorkel the Kapoho Tidepools and have a lava tour.
You can see more photos in my Hawaii Baby and Kahaluu Beach photo sets.
